Arshdeep’s Weight Loss Journey – From 144 To 92 Kgs In Just 6 Months

Posted By: Team ShubiHusain.com    On: January 28th, 2019

Being overweight, grossly overweight or Obese has overtones of a lifestyle disease that escalates to dangerous proportions with many serious side effects.

Obesity in India is reaching epidemic proportions year on year, with morbid obesity affecting 5% of the country’s population. India is in fact following a trend as prevalent in other developing countries that are steadily becoming more and more obese. Unhealthy, processed food like many other nations has become quite accessible following India’s continued integration in global food markets. This, simultaneous to rising middle class incomes, has increased average caloric intake per individual among the middle class and above income households.

Obesity thus is emerging as a major risk factor for various diseases like those related to cardiovascular, diabetes, arthritis / joint pains and the lesser known but widely prevalent “Depression & Anxiety”.

When 23 year old, Delhi based student, Arshdeep was diagnosed with hypertension (high blood pressure), he literally panicked on hearing the grave risk that he was till then unaware of. However not getting cowed down with the risk that he stood exposed, Arshdeep decided to confront and turn around his life. It was this resolve that he could successfully shed 52 kilos at Shubi Husain’s Health Sanctuary Clinic, New Delhi, in a record 6 months time. To learn some weight loss secrets from him, read his story:

Name: Arshdeep Walia Occupation: Student Age: 23 years Highest weight recorded before treatment: 144 kilos Weight After weight loss treatment: 92 kilos Weight lost:52 kilos Duration it took me to lose weight: Approx 6 months Your Mentor for this whopping weight loss: Shubi Husain Which branch: Health Sanctuary’s Greater Kailash – 1 Branch, New Delhi

The turning point

Having resolved to lose weight, the first and foremost was to find a reliable and established Weight Loss clinic in Delhi. A search on the net threw up various results, most of which on conversing, appeared novices in their field. It was here that I happened to narrow down on Shubi Husain’s Health Sanctuary and paid them a visit. An appointment and counseling from renowned Nutritionist Shubi Husain herself proved to be the turning point of it all and I haven’t looked back ever since.

My breakfast

As prescribed in my diet plan, prepared by my team of dieticians and doctors at Health Sanctuary, I usually have a glass of fruit smoothie, poha, boiled egg whites or simply plain oats.

My lunch

From the choices provided to me, I prefer having something as simple as a besan chila, bran atta chapati, quinoa seeds or a serving of brown rice with lauki.

My dinner

Under the Quick weight loss program that i was subscribed to, I am required to keep my dinner as light as possible. I usually have something like a serving of fresh salad, boiled chicken or mushroom. I also like to have tofu or paneer every now and then. Some days when I am allowed a cheat meal, I have choley bhature, which I as such, love.

My Machine Based Weight Loss Sessions

Shubi Husain’s Health Sanctuary had the costliest of imported FDA machines, that they included in my program as a combination. I was prescribed sessions on each for varying durations, calculated by the team headed by Ms Pinky but under strict overall supervision of Shubi Husain herself. Cryolipolysis, also referred as cool sculpting, formed one of the major contributors to my weight loss from the various treatments that i underwent, or so do I think.

My workout and its role

Workout also played a considerable role in helping me lose weight faster. I made sure I exercised every single day without fail. Even today I go to the park and spend a minimum of 30 minutes brisk walking in the morning followed by a metabolism boosting workout. In the evenings, I do a combination of cardio and heavy weight training. This routine simultaneous to the various machine sessions helped me see a difference in myself in no time. I also made sure to stay active through the day, which was missing from my lifestyle before.

Low-calorie recipes

As Ms Husain often said, “Anything you eat is good as long as it is not processed and does not have excessive salt”. Speaking from my own personal experience, I would recommend that people who want to lose weight start consuming black salt, jeera powder and haldi regularly.

What fitness secrets you learnt

It is crucial to realise that there are no shortcuts when it comes to weight loss or fitness in general. An ideal weight loss involves a combination of supervised machine based sessions, followed by exercises and simultaneously a low calorie diet plan that will aid you in the process. Even if you skip one of these, the results won’t be so evident.

How do I stay motivated?

Constant, motivating counseling session at Health Sanctuary. Watching transformation take place in my body. Staying positive helped me a lot and this was the most harped up point by Ms Shubi Husain which boost my self-confidence and willpower.

How do you ensure you don’t lose focus?

By making cheat day once every two months Cheat meals are a good hack as long as you know when to stop. I allowed myself to have a cheat day once every two months.

What’s the most difficult part of being overweight?

Being overweight is not a pleasant experience, especially when you suffer from it at such an early age. I was unable to walk even small distances which was quite an struggle as i started panting after the first few metres itself. On top of that, lethargy overtook me.

What shape do you see yourself 10 years down the line?

I am inspired by Shubi Husain, her aura and lifestyle and the trainers around me. I want to become a bodybuilder in the future.

What are the lifestyle changes you made?

I stopped eating oily and spicy food completely. Believe me, it makes a huge deal of difference.

What was the lowest point for you?

I could not recognise myself in front of my classmates and friends. Of course, there are also some not-so-nice comments you hear when you are passing by in the crowd. Even if you ignore them, they do affect you at some point. Suffering from blood pressure at 23 is also very difficult. While others were enjoying their lives, I couldn’t do even the simple things. This was very disheartening.

Lessons learnt from weight loss

I never want to gain weight and face the same situation again.

Where do you grade Health Sanctuary on a 10 point scale, in your weight loss journey:

I give 10/10 to Shubi Husain and her Health Sanctuary, Greater Kailash branch clinic.
